MISSION TO METRICS
The mission of The Ocean Cleanup is to develop technology to rid the world’s oceans and rivers of plastic. It’s the largest cleanup in history and cannot be realized without partnerships. The Partnerships and Funding team is responsible for fueling the financial growth and success of The Ocean Cleanup. We do this by building a network of partnerships with corporations, foundations, and institutions. Senior Partnerships Managers are responsible for identifying, developing, negotiating, rolling out, and managing the global partnerships that The Ocean Cleanup has and want to have in the future. The role requires you to look for new opportunities proactively and have the right combination of insights, creativity, and strategic skills to turn these into results. It encompasses internal stakeholder management, ensuring organizational alignment between the different teams involved in the partnerships, and external deal-making and relationship management ensuring the partnerships meet expectations and are in line with The Ocean Cleanup vision and mission.

THE ASSIGNMENT
In this role, you will : 
  • Develop partnerships that deliver (financial) value to the organization
  • Build a data-driven pipeline of partnership opportunities
  • Develop a portfolio of partnerships that will bring the mission of the Ocean Cleanup within reach both financially, as in kind
  • Initiate, develop, and manage new global partnerships that create multiyear multimillion USD value for both the Ocean Cleanup and the partner
  • Ensure excellence of partnership implementation throughout the organization in its execution and rollout (internal and external)
  • Manage and increase the value of existing partnerships
  • Be at the forefront of organizational developments within the Ocean Cleanup and able to translate this into new partnerships when needed
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Academic level of thinking and communication skills, preferably with a university degree, for example in Business Administration, Technology, Business Economics, Finance, Marketing & Branding.
  •  >10 years experience as a ‘hands-on’ in business and partnership development and management in an international organization.
  • Strongly preferred: significant experience in international business development in a corporate environment proving an ability to secure large-scale (financial) partnerships 
  • Experience in FMCG, marketing, and branding is a pre
  • Proven success in driving operational excellence, enabling teams to deliver on defined goals, and creating a winning mindset in demanding and fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to build and develop relationships with key stakeholders at the most senior levels, preferably with both private and public sectors.
  • Experience and comfortable with fast-paced, complex, and dynamic environments
  • Ability to share examples of designing and implementing evolving structures, management practices, and business models in evolving organizations.
