MISSION TO METRICS 

The Ocean Cleanup is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as a Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) Jr Associate. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual to support the implementation and maintenance of QHSE initiatives across our organization.

ASSIGNMENT

We are seeking a proactive and passionate QHSE Jr Associate to support our QHSE disciplines and help elevate our standards across the team. In this role, you’ll work cross-functionally to assist with maintaining and improving our quality, health, safety, and environmental (QHSE) management systems and to strengthen compliance per ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and Chain of Custody standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Developing the new procedures resulting from the New Assurance Framework (Quality Management System) of The Ocean Cleanup, ensuring proper training completion.
  • Support the establishment of Lessons Learned/CAPA and Document Control processes, safeguarding up-to-date QHSE documentation, records, and reports regarding risk assessments, incidents, complaints, audits, and corrective/preventive actions. 
  • Ensuring quality standards for QHSE related activities - assisting in audits, follow-ups, and action tracking to help maintain compliance
  • QHSE training awareness: supporting the onboarding crew members complete relevant QHSE trainings, and keep materials/updates current.
  • Support incident/lessons learned/CAPA activities and migrate content from multiple repositories into a single-source-of-truth for traceability.
  • Coordinate the release/implementation of The Ocean Cleanup Lessons Learned and support QMS documentation (processes/forms), including version control and approvals.
  • Co-pilot process automation initiatives and help standardize, harmonize, and safeguard management-of-change activities.
  • Help create and maintain flowcharts for key processes to strengthen understanding and documentation consistency.
  • Provide ongoing support to the QHSE Department in day-to-day activities and expected reporting requirements (newsletter, dashboards, inbox, purchase orders)

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Program Management or Engineering 
  • Between 1-2 years of relevant work experience in a matrix organization, facilitating quality assurance, quality control in production or manufacturing, health, and safety, or compliance management. Would be a plus.
  • Experience with various project management methods involving delivering technological products and operations offshore/onshore/
  • Experienced in Chain of Custody applications is a plus.

  • Good knowledge of QHSE policies, ISO Standards for integrated management systems (ISO 9001/45001/14001), legislation, and sector standards.
  • Good command of English (written and spoken). Dutch is an advantage.
  • Experienced in working in a global environment and dealing with cultural differences.
  • Advanced skills in ICT Office applications.
