The mission of The Ocean Cleanup is to develop advanced technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic. One part of the solution is to design, develop, and deploy cleanup systems to stop plastic from reaching our oceans by intercepting it in rivers.
We are seeking a Junior Project Manager to support our project management team for the implementation of river deployment projects aimed at achieving successful plastic interception in Indonesia. This is a remote position preferably based in Jakarta, Indonesia. The role involves assisting with project planning, controls and progress monitoring, as well as ensuring effective work processes. The role also involves assisting the Project Managers with debottlenecking activities, if necessary.

THE ASSIGNMENT
The Junior Project Manager will assist in complex projects to rid the world’s oceans of plastic. You will work closely with the Project Managers and report progress to the Vice President of Deployments & Operations while supporting the team in achieving interception objectives. Strong performance will lead to increased responsibility, including independently leading and managing projects.
Project Coordination & Support
- Support the Indonesia project management team by providing assistance in project planning, execution, as well as project evaluation (lessons learned).
- Collaborate with project managers to help maintain high quality standards and outputs, while ensuring the timely managed delivery of outputs.
- Support the Indonesia project management team by providing assistance in conducting debottlenecking activities
- Support the Indonesian project management team in maintaining good communication and coordination with relevant project’s stakeholders (such as local governments, partners, and vendors)
Monitoring, Reporting & Risk Support
- Assist with project documentation, including status reporting and issue tracking.
- Participate in identifying and analyzing project risks, offering support in mitigation efforts.
- Assist with maintaining and updating budget and timeline tracking tables, focusing on accurate recordkeeping
Procurement & Financial Administration
- Assist Project Managers in preparing purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
- Assist Project Managers in processing goods receipts and track deliveries.
- Assist Project Managers in maintaining procurement and financial documentation, including procurement trackers and order status records.
Document & Systems Management
- Maintain organized and up-to-date project documentation and files in Indonesia SharePoint.
- Support the use and upkeep of project administration tools and processes.

- 1- 3 years of experience in project management, preferably in relevant fields like Civil/Environmental Engineering, consultancy, construction, or environmental projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in related fields, such as engineering, business, or environmental science. Civil/environmental engineering is a plus.
- Familiarity with MS Project, MS Teams, and SharePoint is a must.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, MS Excel).
- Familiarity with project management methodologies (PMP, PRINCE2, etc.) is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with hydraulic modelling tools (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS etc.) is a plus but not required.
- Understanding basic budgeting and financial reporting principles is beneficial.
