RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Digital Marketing Manager is responsible for the planning and execution of our digital assets and online presence.
  • In this role, the Digital Marketing Manager will oversee, manage, and enhance our website, newsletter, and fundraising platform, working closely with the Funding and Partnerships team to drive the shared goal of increasing direct donations.
  • The Digital Marketing Manager will lead efforts to boost direct donations through these and other channels while managing donor communication via Salesforce, ensuring donors feel appreciated and recognized. 
  • This role demands a proactive approach to improving website conversion rates related to donations, fundraising, newsletter sign-ups, and job applications—critical areas for success.
  • All activities will be data-driven, with a focus on creating performance-based metrics.
  • The Digital Marketing Manager will ensure that the website is best in class and up-to-date with the rapid development of our mission, aiming to share the holistic story and the detailed insights into the workings of the organization. As the organization becomes more and more complex, so does keeping the story simple and making all resources navigableThe website acts as a cornerstone for all external and internal communication. 
Key Deliverables & Outcomes 
  • Creating best-in-class digital destinations to ensure our supporters can get the full picture of our organization and feel informed and inspired to support.
  • Develop, maintain and improve our fundraising platform – allowing us to create a more connected and empowered community, resulting in more sustained non-earmarked funding for the mission. 
  • Work on digital donation projects on the website, via newsletters and through Salesforce, to make more loyal donors, increase referrals and increase sustained direct donations. 
  • Keep our newsletter audience informed about our development, ensuring they can keep The Ocean Cleanup top-of-mind and remain interested in our mission.
  • Drive engagement and reasons to believe while working with the social and community team to foster engagement and action.
Key Responsibilities 
  • Manage and improve the websites of The Ocean Cleanup: backbone, navigation, user flows, design, customer logging, and content planning.
  • Manage data analysis tools to evaluate the performance of the marketing and communication team’s efforts and identify improvement points. 
  • Lead the implementation and improvements of digital donation projects, collaborating with the funding and partnerships team. 
  • Run A/B tests on the website and in the newsletter as input for strategy. 
  • Develop and improve “smart” marketing supporter- and donor journeys. 
  • Manage and improve the fundraising platform, to improve conversion and increase donations.
  • Supervise Digital Marketing and Communications interns. 
  • Manage the selection of and relationship with our external partners and suppliers for website development, web design, data analysis, and paid advertisement, setting up planning, deadlines, objectives, and requirements. Responsible for managing budget and financial spend
  • Responsible for integration between website interfaces, payment solutions, and Salesforce.
  • Manage The Ocean Cleanup’s advertising and digital campaigns to boost conversions (followers, donations, email subscribers, fundraisers etc.). 
  • Identify SEO opportunities and implementation.
  • Manage distribution of our newsletter to our strongest supporter base, to keep them updated on our latest news.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS   
  • Master’s degree in Marketing, Sales, Communication, or similar Business degree
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience of relevant work experience in website management, eCommerce management, marketing or sales
  • Proven experience in using data analysis to track performance, identify gaps, and implement improvements accordingly
  • Experience in project management of multiple large and fast-paced projects simultaneously 
  • Proven track record of setting up customer-centric solutions based on data and/or best practices
  • Experience in SEO, SEA and (paid/organic) digital campaigns 
  • Experience in managing UX/UI improvement initiatives 
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills 
  • Experience with global brands is a plus 
  • Fluent in English 
  • Understanding of HTML and ability to navigate Salesforce/Pardot, WordPress, Google Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook Ads, and Google Search Console.
