MISSION TO METRICS

The mission of The Ocean Cleanup is to develop and scale technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic.

You will support our mission by bringing compliance expertise to the team. This is an exceptional opportunity for driven legal professionals to apply their skills while contributing to meaningful environmental impact within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

THE ASSIGNMENT

As Legal Compliance Coordinator you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our organization adheres to legal and regulatory requirements. Your responsibilities include developing and implementing compliance programs, conducting assessments and audits, and training employees on compliance matters.

You will oversee the House of Policies and conduct annual reviews to ensure all essential rules and standards are adhered to. In your role, you are comfortable with managing and writing policies (like the Third Party Engagement policy, Anti-Bribery and Corruption policy, Code of Ethics) in an understandable and pragmatic manner. You will focus on the correct approach of new suppliers and partners, setting out a robust yet easy-to-use due diligence process together with the Supply Chain team. You will be involved in Data Protection and Privacy matters, overseeing GPDR compliance and coordinating the Data Privacy Register.

In case of concerns raised by Crew members, you will act as compliance officer and therefore be the main contact person to which reports are made. You will handle sensitive information, working alongside the Confidential Counsellors and P&O department where necessary, and make sure to investigate and resolve the issues while preventing future occurrences.

You will support the Legal Director and Management Board on an array of corporate governance related topics; preparing board resolutions and advising on decision-making strategies to ensure compliance with our internal corporate policies and processes. In your role, you will be working closely with the QHSE team for risk assessment and mitigation.

Are you excited to help navigate our meaningful mission through the complex web of risks and regulations to increase our impact?
