The mission of The Ocean Cleanup is to develop and scale technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic. As an In-House Office Chef, you prepare daily meals and snacks for the office, plan and develop menus, and manage day-to-day kitchen operations, supporting employees’ well-being, energy levels, and overall health so they can focus on delivering impact toward our mission.
THE ASSIGNMENT
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on In-House Office Chef to prepare daily meals for our team. This role involves cooking for approximately 75 people per day, menu planning and testing, daily snack preparation, and full ownership of kitchen operations. The ideal candidate enjoys structured daytime hours and takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- As an In-House Office Chef at The Ocean Cleanup, you will be:
- Preparing and cooking daily meals for approximately 75 people.
- Planning, testing, and developing weekly menus.
- Ordering food, ingredients, and kitchen supplies.
- Preparing daily snacks and refreshments for the office.
- Managing food preparation, cooking, and service during office hours.
- Ensuring all kitchen health, safety, and food hygiene protocols are followed.
- Keeping the kitchen clean, tidy, and well-organized throughout the day.
- Cleaning up after service, including loading and unloading professional dishwashers.
- Managing basic inventory and minimizing food waste.
- Collaborating with the office team to accommodate dietary needs and feedback.

- Professional cooking experience (restaurant, catering, or similar environment) reference required.
- Confidence cooking for large groups.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen health & safety standards.
- Experience with menu development or test kitchens.
- Experience managing food ordering and stock management.
- Familiarity with dietary requirements (vegetarian, vegan, allergies, etc.).

- Food is catered to the company on Mondays – Thursdays. Anticipated working hours between 32-40 per week. No evening or weekend shifts.

- Location: The role is based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The ability to work in the Netherlands is a must.
