Ridding the world’s oceans of plastic is something we cannot do on our own. As the Partnership Manager, you will be responsible for servicing and managing partnerships that will enable our mission by providing the resources and expertise we require to be successful.

Reporting to the Head of Partnerships, you will be responsible for the day-to-day managing of our Global Partner for Rivers and many of our larger external partners. Your role will ensure that the rights and commitments of our partnership agreements are properly executed, so we can create long-term, value-adding relationships that advance our mission. Together with the Senior Partnership managers, you will help set up the framework for managing and tracking our partner’s activities. You will ensure that commitments - ranging from branding and intellectual property to physical deployment/technology - are adequately monitored and managed to deliver the highest level of impact.

You will help identify improvements to the structure, processes, and supporting content around how we engage and support our partnerships across the organization, giving our partners the chance to create a meaningful legacy through their participation in our activities.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the Senior Partnership Managers with partner engagements and negotiations
  • Day-to-day management of key global partnerships
  • Building relationships across our internal departments (ie. Oceans, Rivers, Catch Management, Business Development, Procurement, Communications, etc.) to ensure their partnership needs are met
  • Close connection with the Communications team within The Ocean Cleanup to ensure our partners’ communication plans are shared and developed in tandem with our communications
  • Developing and implementing our partner activation and engagement strategy (facilitating feedback, giving partner-specific updates, activation tools, etc.)

Your day to day could look like:

  • Calls and presentations, building strong relationships with our internal teams and external partners
  • Gaining a detailed understanding of each partner agreement and acting as the approval point for partner content before it reaches the public
  • Creating tools and processes to help better service our partners
  • Sitting in on brand workshops to evaluate synergies between two parties


  • A degree in a relevant field such as communications, business, marketing management or a related field
  • At least 8 years of experience in partnerships, business development, sales, or a similar role
  • Experience working with large global brands
  • Experience representing a company externally
  •  (Near-) native English language skills (including written). Other language skills are a plus
  •  Previous experience in social media management, PR, or communications is a plus
