Our Project engineer Specialised in E&I (Equipment & Instrumentation) will be away on a sabbatical from June 1st 2020 till August 31st 2020. The Interim Project Engineer would ideally start May 22nd to ensure there is enough time for handover, and continue working with The Ocean Cleanup for 3.5 months (ending the 4th of September). 

Responsibilities and tasks 

  • Preparing, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring assigned scopes from conception to execution
  • Developing scope of work and requirements for the components
  • Managing contractors during manufacturing of several scopes, including electronics and structural elements
  • Monitor progress and ensure quality of the components being produced
  • Establishing test methods and methods for monitoring the quality of those tests. Working with the contractor to ensure project deliverables meet their milestones on time, within resources (budget, resources)
  • Ensuring the project’s compliance with the applicable codes, practices, performance standards, and specifications. Report on areas for improvement, hurdles or challenges, and propose remedial action where needed.
  • Cooperating and communicating with the Engineering manager and other project participants and collaborating with discipline Engineers.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Master’s degree in mechanical, structural, maritime or offshore engineering
  • From 5 to 10 years of working experience in engineering and/or project execution roles
  • Experienced interim/freelance project engineer with proven capability to quickly pick up the pace in a new environmentHas experience in guiding contractors during manufacturing processes, in a relevant technical sector, preferably maritime
  • Pragmatic / common sense person with experience in E&I / commissioning
  • Proven experience in planning, coordinating work scopes & Thorough understanding of how to achieve high quality products on time, within budget
  • Fluent in English
  • At ease using MS Office and Sharepoint
