Our Specialist engineer will be away on a sabbatical from June 1st 2020 till August 31st 2020. The Interim Project Engineer would ideally start May 22nd to ensure there is enough time for handover, and continue working with The Ocean Cleanup for 3.5 months (ending the 4th of September). 

Responsibilities and tasks 

  • Managing contractors during manufacturing of several scopes, including electronics and structural elements
  • Monitor progress and ensure quality of the components being produced
  • Working with the contractor to ensure project deliverables meet their milestones on time, within resources (budget, people)
  • Coordinating engineering packages
  • Report on areas for improvement, hurdles or challenges, and propose remedial action where needed.
  • Align with internal stakeholders (engineers and management) on project progress
  • Required knowledge and experience
  • Experienced interim/freelance project engineer with proven capability to quickly pick up the pace in a new environment
  • Has experience in guiding contractors during manufacturing processes, in a relevant technical sector, preferably maritime
  • (Maritime) engineering background with knowledge of hydrodynamics and structural
  • Thorough understanding of how to achieve high quality products on time, within budget
  • Master's degree with 5-10 years of relevant working experience 
  • Fluent in English
  • At ease using MS Office and Sharepoint
